Enough

"For it is not needful that a man run faster than he has strength."

The one thing that could keep me from receiving the blessings of God is my own unworthiness. Unresolved addictions. Attachment to impurity. An unwillingness to give away my sins to God. For the most part, I'm doing okay in those respects. But unworthiness is more than just not doing bad - the Lord expects me to be anxiously engaged in good causes. He opens various doors and prompts me to run through each.

Some day, maybe, I'll see patterns in the pathways I am running. In the meantime, I keep running faster and faster... I only wonder if I'm running fast enough.

  1. I don't know anyone who is doing EVERYTHING that they could possibly do. That's why we have the atonement. If we give our best, the Lord will make up for everywhere else that we lacked.

  2. You should read the Continuous Atonement by Brad Wilcox. He talks about this exactly. I think so many members of the church struggle with this. (me included) we never feel like we are doing enough. it's so funny, because you are even reading you scriptures every night and consistently going to the temple, and I'm sure fulfilling your callings above and beyond. yet you still wonder if you're doing enough. I'm sure glad heavenly father know our hearts.

  3. Katie:

Ironically, I don't often make the time to read self-help or inspirational books. I feel like I should be writing my own story - whether through living my life or writing something of my own. I can't even read books on plane rides since I feel the need to share the gospel. The last "inspirational" book I read was during a road trip... and it's been months. I've met Brad Wilcox, and heard him speak... and his book is somewhere on the list of things to read eventually. But thanks for the suggestion.

(G)MG is how I write to you. Commenting is one way to write to me.

If you want your comment published: No swearing, graphic content, name-calling of any kind, or outbound links to anything but official Church sites.

In addition, comments must be 100% relevant, funny, uplifting, helpful, friendly... well-written, concise, and true. Disparaging comments often don't meet those standards. Comments on (G)MG are personal notes to me, not part of a comment war. You are not entitled to have your ideas hosted on my personal blog. There are a zillion places for that, and only one (G)MG.

And I'd suggest writing your comment in Word and pasting it. That way Blogger won't eat it if it's over the word limit.
